About Us
Julie and Tina, who live on 3rd generation family farms with their husbands and children, started blokesnsheilas after a conversation about isolation and depression among country people. The anonymity of an online community has a way of making people feel at ease and they tend to open up more.
With depression and suicide rates high in the rural sector it is now more relevant than ever for rural people to find a place where they can talk and share their feelings and know that they are not alone. Many members are just looking to make some new friends while others are looking for romance. When you live on a farm and work long hours it doesn't leave a lot of time to go out and meet people but friends or love could be just a mouse click away!
BlokesnSheilas is a unique online community website because Julie and Tina are always available to answer any members questions. The site has lots of imformative links for rural people and provides a fun upbeat enviroment to share experiences with others living in rural Australia.
As well as the the blokesnsheilas website, Julie and Tina have joined forces with Melbourne Country Rock Band "The Prairie Oysters" to stage the "Handshakes and Beyond" Charity Events. These events are raising awareness of issues rural people face and are supporting good mental health in the bush as well as raising much needed funds for Aussie Helpers. All profit from these events are donated to Aussie Helpers.
Julie and Tina are also proud to support Aussie Helpers by raising awareness of the support and donations of groceries, fodder etc that Aussie Helpers gives to our rural communitys and farmers that are struggling in these tough times.
